Danni not able to work this semester Few new people have expressed interest in joining Progress on John's project Progress on TJ's project Progress on training videos Polar slicing lit review? More to do on DFX course? New subproject - printing conductive pathways  Links into TJ's project Need to get MultiMaterial up and running Test the conductive filament we ordered What materials does it work well with? How to print well? Electrical properties? Split and Copy

We have been working on the training videos this week. We have had a little difficulty finding a program that allows us to do what we want to do.

Dog Bone gcode

Image
This week, I became more familiar with the program Simply 3D. I did this by watching you tube videos. I worked a little with the dog bone g code to try and get it to print every layer horizontally. I think I figured it out and was able to print a dog bone with every layer going horizontally. I printed the sample in PLA so I need to redo the g code so that we can print it with ABS. I had a little problem with the prints sticking to the bed. I fixed the problem by adjusting the z level.

Weekly meeting 11/28

Jason All software on computer now? Haas TM-2P mill ordered Soluble material arrived Working on Moyan paper Department may try to buy a low-end metal additive this next year:  http://auroralabs3d.com/ Think of possible research we can do with it!

3D printing videos

This week Emily, Danni and I were able to meet with Grant from the Venture Lab and talked about how we could make education videos for the AMP an Venture Lab. Emily and I made a list of topics we should talk about in the videos. Emily and I started writing scripts for each topic to be made into videos. Below is example of our scripts. Unloading and Loading Filament Whenever you want to change colors, materials, or just start a new roll of filament, you have to unload your current filament and load a new one. First, turn on the Prusa with the switch on the side as shown. Then, we’re going to pre-heat the nozzle. Scroll down to the preheat option and click. Pick the material you’re unloading from the list of options. When the nozzle has had a minute or two to heat up, we can unload the filament. Hold on to the filament tightly, and scroll down to the “unload” option on the printer. When you press it, the filament will start to get pushed out. Make sure you help it along...
